- WN #7: What is one of your favorite songs or singers and why?
- Song Lyrics Found Poems
- What is Found Poetry?
Found poems use existing words and reorder them. Usually found poetry is based around a main idea or theme you select. All you have to do is choose the words you like best. Consider the way music artists create "mashups" with various songs--this is the musical version of found poems. You too, can use song lyrics and create found poems out of them. Remember to give credit to the artists that contribute to the text of your found poem.
- Select two or more songs (can be by the same artist)
- Print the lyrics and bring them to class
- Select words or phrases that appeal to you
- Cut apart and rearrange to create a new poem (including a title)
- Glue to paper in poetic lines and illustrate
- You should have two poems of at least five lines each, or one poem with at least ten lines
