- Begin the "I Remember" Poem Assignment. Analyze the "I Remember Poem" by Edward Montez using the "says/does" strategy. What does he do? How could you imitate his craft? What should you put in your poem?

- Continue working on "I Remember" Poem Assignment
- Brainstorm 20 memories that you could include in your poem (you probably won't use all of them). Focus on specific images, like a still photograph that captures one moment of an event.

- Writer's Notebook #1: Read and watch "A Life Story in Five Short Chapters" by Portia Nelson
Answer these two questions:
1. What is happening in this story? What is it about? Summarize the story.
2. How could you relate this story to you? - Finish Brainstorm and Write the Rough Draft of Your "I Remember" Poem
- Word gathering - gather images and words that will help you describe your memories.
- Rough Draft - put your poem together. Remember to use our "Says/Does."
- In your rough draft, include the following:
1. Repetition - Start each stanza with "I Remember" or "And"
2. End your poem by starting the stanza with an "ing" verb, and ending with the phrase "but that was yesterday."
3. Use figurative language
Metaphors/Similes
Sensory Images (Details that appeal to sight, sound, taste, touch, smell)
Personification - giving living characteristics to non-living things
Must have specific images - like a snapshot. Do not over explain your images.
Must be 10 stanzas long and include capitals and punctuation.
